| Fico means I stay and is the term used to describe Dom Pedro I?s decision to stay in Brazil and not return to Portugal as requested by the Portuguese parliament. Pronounced on the 9th of January 1822 it is an important step in the indepence process of Brazil proclaimed formally 10 months later at Ipiranga. | ||||||
